Rationale (Minjoo Bai_ 12235194_ Story and narrative)

I have used Jefferson Airplane’s White rabbit song for my video. The theme for this song was about drugging but the main theme was about choices as well. I've focused more on to the childish aspect of the song (Alice in wonderland) and tried to make it look simple as possible by using minimalist style. The triptych that I've created splits into 3 views, a choice that you make before nothing happens, a good choice and a bad choice. Depends on what you choose the result changes. For the good choice I've used earth color such as yellow, and for the contrast I've used cold color such as purple for the bad choice. I didn't add definite ending to the video because the triptych that we have to create needed to be nonlinear. Therefore my background music is just straight forward repetitive drum beat.

This is Verse1/introduction video

One pill makes you larger
And one pill makes you small,
And the ones that mother gives you
Don't do anything at all.

I have 3 pills on the desk and the main character gets close to them.

Before anything happens she makes a choice between three pills

1. A pill that makes you big: vitamins/protein pills that adds energy to you.

2. A pill that makes you small: A really bad diet pill which will make her sick and throw up.

3. A pill that mother gives you: panadol (this usually doesn't work for me).

I left the color white to show before the choice has been made nothing is going to happen.

I left hair and the skin color to show that this character is the same character for the chorus video.

In this one she eats a pill and her clothe changes into pink color 

(which leads to the video that she turns back from others)

bad choice.

In this one she eats a diet pill and her clothe changes into purple color 

(which leads to the video that she follows others)

To be honest I can't really define what result is bad or good.

I'm just classifying this videos into two to explain 

but in reality if you feel happy after eating diet pill or not eating any food for diet it is fair enough to do so.

Good choice video

What I've though about was that 

a person that is ten feet tall must be someone who is high in society or someone valuable.

I can't say that every girl thinks that their boyfriend is valuable 

but for majorities if they have one they get important for them.

therefore this is the video portraying the main character's boyfriend smiling back at her.

The reason why he gets close to the screen symbolizes that the main character is not lonely.

FOR SOME REASON I CAN'T SAVE THIS VIDEO AS A GIF FILE. THEREFORE I'VE JUST SAVED IT AS MP4 file.

bad choice video

original idea.

I thought doctor or lawyer is quite high in society so I've portrayed doctor.

Doctor is crying because he is sad to say that the main character got anorexia and she is going to die soon.

Fixed 

The reason why he gets far from the screen symbolizes that the main character is lonely.

This is 2nd verse
And if you go chasing rabbits
And you know you're going to fall,

In this good choice video the main character chases after the model, but decides to turn back.
Therefore she make a choice to do healthy dieting instead of getting a surgery or end up being anorexic. 

Video refining

So I've been refining my video.
I've added the bow to show personality of the character.
This bow is headed downwards because her personality is quiet and shy.

Most of people who has illness do not want to tell others about their suffering.

therefore I'm assuming that my sad version character would be introvert.

then I've created the happy version of it as well.
In the happy version you can tell it is the same person
but she has brighter personality than the other one
therefore i drew the box upward to show excitement.

My plan is to have two videos that contrast each other.

So both of this video runs together and people choose what they want to see.

This video is only half verse

I have to make caterpillar scene as well.
